He has been involved in Oromo students struggle from elementary to his university studies up he was arrested several times in different places including in the Ethiopian famous prison called Maikelawi and finally expelled from his university studies in 2012 and flee from his homeland to Sudan. During his refugee life in Sudan,Shagarab refugee camp, Chala served his people in many ways and organizing the refugees and bringing them together to be strong and help to each other. Before he left his homeland Oromiyaa, he was working with many organizations and local NGOs. He was a founder of Wakeffanna religion (WHAWTSHA) in Adama university, a general secretary for Oromo cultural,language and history preservation forum (GAASO) at Adama University. He was also a leader of Tadese Birru unity model association (WTDGTB)based in Adama city. Chala was also an active member of Oromo writers association and a member of executive committee of Oromo Artists association based in Adama. Due to his beliefs to the Oromo freedoms and his endless love to his people, Chala has been receiving a harsh treatment from the TPLF regime. Chala has published three books in Afaan Oromo. After he left his country, Oromiyaa, Chala never became hopeless rather actively working with different international human rights defenders and tries his best to disclose the tragedy and atrocity been taken place in Ethiopia especially his own personal experiences of Ethiopian prisons. Now Chala studies Peace and conflict studies by believing that he would bring change and make difference in his forehead life in Oromo history as well in the horn of Africa. Chala is very active human rights activist in Sweden by using social medias.Currently, Chala has been working as a freelance journalist with Radiosydväst based in Stockholm. He is young Oromo novelist and poet!
